1. Who We Are
Akir (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the Akir reasoning workspace. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
2. Data We Collect
We collect the following categories of data:
- Account data — email address, hashed password (managed by Firebase Authentication).
- Content data — projects, threads, messages, uploaded files, and knowledge ledger entries you create.
- Usage data — token counts per session, message counts, and timestamps, used for billing and abuse prevention.
- API keys — if you provide third-party API keys, they are stored encrypted at rest.
3. How We Use Your Data
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
- To process your requests and stream AI responses.
- To track usage for billing and enforce fair-use limits.
- To send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset).
- To investigate abuse or enforce our Terms of Service.
We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your content to train AI models.
4. Third-Party Services
Akir uses the following third-party providers to operate the Service:
- Firebase / Google Cloud — authentication, database, and hosting.
- Pinecone — vector storage for uploaded file embeddings.
- AI providers (e.g. Google, OpenAI, Anthropic) — your messages are sent to whichever provider you or the platform has configured. Their privacy policies apply to data processed by their models.
5. Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete a project, its associated files and embeddings are permanently deleted. If you delete your account, all data is deleted within 30 days.
6. Security
We use industry-standard measures including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest for sensitive fields, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure; use a strong, unique password.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access or export the data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below.
8. Cookies
We use a single session cookie (
akir-session) to maintain your authenticated session. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.9. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
